Ipsy is a monthly subscription of personalized makeup and beauty samples, conceptualized by one of the OG’s in beauty blogging – Michelle Phan.
“Nothing makes a woman more beautiful than the belief that she is beautiful.”
– Sophia Loren
As a lot of good ways to spend your money come, Instagram introduced me to the wonderful world of Ipsy! As advertised on the website, Ipsy is a monthly subscription for beauty lovers to try out new products for a reasonable price. I live in Canada, so it comes up to be about $20 a month which includes shipping. Not to bad if you ask me! After filling a questionnaire on your favourite beauty brands, eye colour, skin type, etc., your subscription starts and your first package arrives! (I was on a wait-list, but not for very long.) I’ve been an Ipsy member since October 2016 and continue to be impressed with all the fabulous goodies I receive each month.
Here’s what was in my glam bag for January 2017:
Up first is Clinque’s Take the Day Off Makeup Remover, which I’ve actually used before and is comparable to my favourite Lancôme Bi-Facil eye makeup remover in that it removes my waterproof mascara without irritating my eyes. What’s great about this lil’ guy is I WAS ACTUALLY ALMOST OUT of eye makeup remover, so this will last me until the next time I skip over to Sephora!
Told you it’s personalize because these guys sent me a little mini of Smashbox’s Camera Ready BB Cream, which is slightly heavier than my fave BB Water that I blogged about the other day. It blends out quite beautifully, you can feel it moulding and transforming your skin. It has a light coverage, it evens out your skin tone and it has a dewy finish which makes for a much more realistic skin finish. Radiant girl!
I love Kate Moss and I’m a huge fan of her lipstick collaboration with Rimmel. This is their latest product which is the Kate Conditioning Lip Balm and I can’t stop using it. This is an actual full size balm and has that fabulous lipstick applicator for those of us who love to swipe daily. It’s highly moisturizing, which is a must during these cold months. Their website recommends wearing under their lipsticks for a long lasting moisture barrier, so I’ll try it out and see if it makes a difference!
Next we have the Balm’s Bahama Mama Bronzer. Now, I do understand that this is a sample of their famous bronzer, but the size of this does make it quite difficult to grab with my bronzer brush. Personally I don’t think the shade looks that great on me, because it is so dark it might work better as a contouring powder. It leaves my skin looking quite matte and leaves me looking a little dull unfortunately. Have any of you tried this and had better results? Tell me your secrets!
Last we have Mannakadar Beauty’s Paradise Pearlized Blush. WHOA that’s a mouthful! This blush is gorgeous and the colour reminds me of Nars’ Super Orgasm just without the sparkles. It’s silky smooth and has a pearlescent finish to it, so it’s like a blush and highlighter all-in-one. I’ve only swatched it, but I’ll be sure to test it out on my cheeks and let you know how it goes! The size looks to be quite comparable to the product you’d purchase online – thanks Mannakadar!
Are you an Ipsy subscriber as well? Whats the best product you’ve tried? What’s the worst? Let me know in the comments below, let’s talk beauty products!
Until next time friends,
